TVP taco mix is shelf stable and can be storage at room temperature, as is. If stored in a dry, cool, and well sealed package it can last 1-2 years as is. After it has been prepared for eating it should be refrigerated and treated like any other meat type product.
This product does not truly need rehydrated or cooked, per say. It can be snacked on as is, or just added to the top of Salads, Pizzas, Soups or whatever your favorite dish is. You may also prepare any of these products as individual items by adding quantities of water to your desired consistancy and heating the item up. This works great with the Taco Mix, Sloppy Joes, Beef Bits, the veggie burger, or others. We love to still cook in onions, tomatoes, and all our favorites toppings.
Suggested Directions for Use When Hydrating:
Hydration Ratio (by Weight): 2 parts water: 1 part Taco Mix:
1. Weigh out the desired amount of Taco Mix.
2. Add two times the amount of water (by weight) to the Mix in a saucepan.
3. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for at least two minutes until the excess moisture is absorbed, stirring occasionally.
4. Remove from heat and serve as you would tacos.
