Textured vegetable protein is a delicious product that takes on many different forms allowing it to take on the texture of whatever ground meat it is substituting. Using textured vegetable protein, you can make vegetarian or vegan versions of traditionally meat dishes such as chili, spaghetti bolognese, sloppy joes, tacos, burgers, or burritos.
Soy protein TVP can also be used as a low cost/high nutrition food extender in meat and poultry products, and in tuna fish salads. Food service, retail and institutional facilities and families regularly add over 50% TVP to their true meat dishes to save costs and reduce fat and cholesterol.
This is NOT the TVP you remember from 20 years ago. Technology has come a long way and the taste of each of these various products have come even farther. Try them out with your favorite recipe!!
